The Peekskill Evening Star (later just Star as evening newspapers fell out of favor) was just one of thousands of daily smalltown papers that have now entirely disappeared, leaving only their beautiful buildings behind. It was bought by media giant Gannett in 1985 and shuttered in 1998. The Evening Star is most well known for its role in the 1949 Peekskill Riots. This building is currently for rent. ©2007 M. Lain |
